University of Nebraska Parking Garage, Omaha, NE
The University of Nebraska Omaha has addressed student parking tribulations on the Dodge Campus by building a five-level parking garage that will replace existing surface lots.  The new garage – adjacent to the new apartment-style housing facility termed Maverick Village – has a capacity for 892 vehicles.  The 290,000 gross square foot project is estimated to cost $11.850 million.  Responding to the campus architecture, the garage incorporates punched openings, inlaid face brick, light and heavy sandblast finish and curved reveals.

There are a total of 540 structural and architectural precast pieces on UNO’s new 3-bay garage.  The floor system is comprised of 308 12-foot wide, 30-inch deep pretopped double tees spanning lengths up to 60 feet.  The tees are supported on the interior by prestressed lite wall shear panels and on the exterior by 10-inch thick prestressed wall panels with an architectural finish.  At the end of each bay, four 24-inch square columns support 42-inch deep inverted tee beams, which span 42 feet.  Two stair towers at each end of the garage consist of 22-foot long precast stair treads and flat slabs.
